The Cybergun MP40 AEG airsoft submachine gun is modeled after the famous German MP40 submachine gun from World War II - the Maschinenpistole 40 - often mistakenly called the Schmeisser . The MP40 was a development of the earlier MP38 model, which was very modern but technically challenging to manufacture. In the spring of 1940, the German motorized forces began designing a new weapon, and the resulting MP40 was distinguished, among other things, by the use of stamped sheet steel, which simplified manufacturing. The MP40 became a symbol of the German soldier during World War II. Its recognizable shape makes it one of the most recognizable submachine guns in history. By the end of the war, an estimated 1.1 million were produced.
The AEG version presented by Cybergun is made of steel, aluminum and polymer. The upper barrel, magazine well, mid-cap magazine, barrel guard and folding stock are made of steel, among other things. The outer barrel, fire selector, sling loop and stock are made of aluminum. The lower part of the frame, pistol grip and charging handle are made of polymer.
The weapon has a safety switch on the pistol grip to cut off the power, and unlike its predecessor, there is a fire selector on the side of the frame.
